Why choose a certified appraiser?
An equine appraiser has an opinion of value of a
horse. A Certified Equine Appraiser develops an
opinion of value with a methodology established by
Industry guidelines written by USPAP, or Uniform
Standards of Professional Appraisals Practice, and
the Code of Ethics of the American Society of Equine
Appraisers.
Congress mandated structure in the appraisal
profession after the crisis in the savings and loan
industry in the 1980’s, which highlighted the need to
develop and foster meaningful criteria. USPAP is now
an internationally acknowledged standard for
our industry, and there is growing pressure to use
certified appraisers who uphold these guidelines.
